Ms. Allison Quam

My name is Allison Quam and I am the On Track Literacy teacher for 6th, 7th and 8th grades at Murray Middle School.  On Track Literacy (OTL) is designed for students in grades 6-8 with emerging literacy skills, who desire extra instruction in advancing their reading and researching abilities.  This extra insturction will support them in building rich vocabularies to carry with them, throughout their lives.

I have been teaching in St Paul for many years and have taught grades K-8th.  Reading is my specialty and I am passionate about teaching kids some of the tricks that I have learned along the way, to make reading, questioning and learning a critical part of our daily practice. 

I grew up in a very small town in South Dakota.  I have a Bacholer of Science degree from the University of South Dakota, and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota.  In 2013 I earned a Reading Licensure, at Hamline University, which allows me to teach reading stratigies to students in K-12.  

I love teaching at Murray Middle School, as the students are learning at such a rapid pace and they are quickly moving toward adulthood. Every day is an exciting day, when you are working with 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
