Mrs. Denae

My name is Mrs. Denae Olsen.  I am the band/orchestra teacher here at Murray Middle School.  I have been teaching around the district since 2010 in different musical roles.  I grew up in Minnesota and left for two years to teach in Phoenix but missed Minnesota too much.  I graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with two degrees in Music Education with an Instrumental Specialty and Elementary Education with Math Specialty.  I have been teaching since fall of 2005.  I love playing in concert bands and my main instrument is flute.  I have also played trumpet, baritone, and saxophone in concert bands.  I love to sing as a past time.  I grew up in a very musical family.  I'm a pet person and own a cat and dog and have a son, Sam, and a daughter, Holly.
