My name is Jeanne Hansen, I am the speech language pathologist at Murray Middle School. This is my 16th year as a SLP, thirteen of them have been with Saint Paul Public Schools. The past 3 years, I have been on leave and worked in Milwaukee, WI. I am happy to be returning to Murray this school year. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with scholars from pre-k through high school. The majority of my career has been working with middle school students .
As a speech language pathologist, I have the opportunity to work with a diverse population. This is one reason I became a speech language pathologist-the diversity! In the field of speech language pathology, I am licensed to work with individuals from birth to death. The field of speech language pathology has many service delivery areas (speech sounds, language, social skills, fluency, augmentative/alternative communication, voice, swallowing/feeding, cognition, hearing, apraxia, aphasia). This is why I love my job. There are always new things to learn and ways to help individuals communicate. Communication is everything, behavior is communication. I am a firm believer in building on a scholars' strengths and teaching them skills and strategies to communicate in their environment.
