LD English/Communicatiions

This course is designed around Read Naturally, an individualized reading program with a variety of  other reading material.  Students work on word analysis, vocabulary development, and increasing reading fluency.  Within the program, comprehension and written language skills are also developed at their instructional level.  Work toward the SPPS goal of reading 25 books is also incorporated.

LD Math (Practical Math)

Students work on math skills through hands on manipulatives, visual representations of math concepts, and verbalization of processes.  Students work on speed and accuracy of basic concepts as well as the eight strands in preparation for the Basic Standards Test for Math.  Strategies for solving word problems are developed within the curriculum.

LD Math

The STEM Project is the basis for this course.   The curriculum is adapted and extended to meet student needs.  Manipulatives, strategies, and verbalization are used for understanding of math concepts and solving word problems.  Students also prepare for the Basic Standards Test for Math.

LD Study Skills

This course offers students small group instruction for classroom organization, assignment completion, and building skills in areas of need.    Bi- weekly contact is made with classroom teachers to collect and work on missing assignments as well as knowing what the current grades are in the mainstream classes.  Resource provides a setting for accomadations to be made for classroom tests, graduation standards, and projects.  Work toward the SPPS goal of reading 25 books is also incorporated.

LD Social Studies

This is a parallel course to LD English/Coimmunication.  An adapted text for the 7th and 8th grade Social Studies curriculum is used.  Similar concepts are covered at the students reading level and learning rate.

LD teachers also provide inclusion options.  Currently, LD teachers work within math, health, social studies, and English classrooms in a team teaching setting.  Accomodations are taken into consideration in the curriculum development, assignment completion, and grading.  Teachers make accomodations and adaptations to meets student IEP goals.
