| Dear Students, Parents, Family & Community Members:
Welcome to the Principal's Corner. I am Dr. Winston H. Tucker, the proud principal of Murray Junior High School. This is my 19th year in the Saint Paul Public Schools and my 8th year as principal of Murray Junior High School. Prior to becoming principal of Murray I taught Social Studies and Humanities and served as an Assistant Principal, all in the Saint Paul School District. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), my Masters of Science and Doctorate in Educational Policy and Administration degree at the University of Minnesota.
My | | Dr. Winston Tucker | wife and I have a 5 year old daughter Sophie and a dog named Humphrey. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, riding a 4 wheeler and time spent in the outdoors. I love to read every night before going to sleep. The book that has me most interested right now is Good to Great by Jim Collins. My favorite pastime is spending time with my wife and daughter. I have also purchased a 1950 Chevrolet pickup truck that I intend to restore when I get some recreational time.
I encourage you to explore all of our newly updated and expanded web site so you can learn about the wonderful students, staff, parents and programs at Murray Junior High. Murray is | | Lunch with the Principal. | a safe, fun and academically challenging school that stresses academic rigor in our instruction and course work. One of the best ways to help your child succeed is to go to www.splearns.org to see your child's school assignments, quiz and test scores, and any missing assignments. This information comes right from the teacher's electronic gradebook and can only be seen by you, the parent. Please also check out your child's teacher's web site and electronic syllabus for more detailed course information. This information is available on this web site.
Please be sure to check out our parent handbook that is on this web site. This | | Dr. Tucker's Future Hot Rod! | will be a guide to explain most of the school procedures and expectations for our students and how we can work together to help them succeed. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me using any of the options below.
Thank you so much for allowing me to serve as principal of Murray. It is an honor to work with our students, staff and parents. Let's work together to make the 2008-2009 school year a success for all children.
