Course Overview

Venture into a world of Gods, Goddesses, heroes, heroines, villains, monsters, and fictional creatures, a world where unexplainable settings stir the imagination.  Join us on a mythical journey!  Mythology is open to any 7th or 8th grade student interested in this genre.  We will read, retell and write our own myths in this class.  Students will create a myth portfolio to demonstrate their knowledge of characters and plot elements featured in various mythical stories.  Common themes in our readings are identified and discussed.  A retelling of a favorite myth and the design of a travel brochure highlighting a mythical setting are required in the course.  We will read Greek myths and mythical tales of various cultures.  Students are also encouraged to bring in their own favorites to share with the class.  Come along!
