Murray Junior High School and H.B. Fuller Company School Business Partnership

 

Partnership Began

Mid 1970s; formalized in 1990 with the St. Paul Chamber of  Commerce's Prepare St. Paul Program

Background on the Partnership

  • Murray Junior High is a math and science magnet specialty school.
  •  H.B. Fuller is a specialty chemical company.
  • Fuller's St. Paul manufacturing facility and research lab were formerly located in the St. Anthony Park/Midway District of St. Paul near Murray which made this a "natural" partnership.

Program Objectives

  • Provide activities promoting the self-esteem, knowledge and skills necessary for lifelong learning and workforce readiness.
  • Engage in activities that benefit both partners.
  • Enjoy getting to know each other as individuals, while learning from each other about the worlds of work and education.

Program Participants

*  650 Fuller Employees

*   800 Murray Students

*         95 Murray faculty and staff

H.B. Fuller Current Volunteer Activities

-         Conducting tours of H.B. Fuller's laboratories, plants and corporate facilities.

-         Judges at Murray's Science Fair and History Day

-         Financial support through mini grants.

-         Speakers in the classroom

-         E-mentoring

-         Scholarships for Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center

-         Science Fair Award - Book Donation to School Library

Murray Student Current Activities

*       Jazz Band Concert at the HB Fuller Headquarters 

*   Tour the HB Fuller laboratories and learn about the requirements for the sciencific and engineering careers at Fuller.

*        Support of other Fuller activities
