World Geography Challenge
.  Textbook-two chapters a week. Students should read and take notes.  Notes will be check the day the reading is due. 

2.  Critical Thinking are given when a chapter is due.  It represents the concepts/main ideas covered in the chapter and is used to check for comprehension.

3.  Vocabulary is given every week. 

4.  Chapter quizes (after every two chapters)

5.  Map work-develop a mental map of the world and to understand where one is in relationship to the rest of the world. 

6.  Immigration Project

7.  Unit Tests (comprehensive).

 

Grades: 

Grades are based on a total point system.

Grading Scale:

92-100 = A

82-91 = B

72-81 = C

62-71 = D

61 under = N

Make-up work:

It is the responsibility of the student to get his/her work when absent.

* two days to hand in assignments from day student was absent (if absent Wednesday, then assignments from Wednesday is due on Friday).

* assignments/projects due first day back in class.

* all tests/quizes need to be made-up first day back in class.

Retakes:

*One retake on vocabulary/quiz after school only.

*One retake on map tests after school only. Need to come in for ONE study session after school prior to taking the test on another day. Dates will be announce in class.

*No retakes on unit tests.   

Extra Credit:

* vocabulary definitions - 5 points (only if handed in on time)

* chapter SECTION REVIEWS - 10 points per chapter (due on the day the chapter is due)

* write a summary/reflection about a newspaper article concerning countries in the region that we are studying - 10 points for every three summaries/reflection.

BE PREPARE!

NO FOOD, DRINK, CANDY AT ALL TIMES.

Detention will also be given for the following infractions:

     Late for class without proper excuse.

     Not in proper seat when the bell rings at the start of class.

     Not having proper materials to class (textbook, pens, pencils, etc.)

PROGRESS REPORTS WILL BE GIVEN EVERY MONDAY.  PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR CHILD.
