English 7
The theme for English 7 is Identity in America. The question that will guide our learning is: What can I learn about my own identity and identity in America by studying texts by American authors? During first trimester, our focus is on memoir - reading, analyzing, and writing. During second trimester, we focus on short story and poetry. We will end the year with an in-depth novel study.


Memoir
Students will begin the year studying memoir: reading various memoirs and writing rough drafts of several of their own experiences. Students will end the trimester by taking one of their rough drafts to final draft form and then sharing it with the class.
